SCHOOL PROJECTS

SCHOOL & COMMUNITY COLLABORATIONS

I specialize in community and school driven mosaic mural collaborations. It is a fantastic way to teach skills such as perseverance, patience and cooperation while creating a beautiful art piece for the campus. The greater school community also benefits and grows stronger as a result of incorporating students, staff and parents into the design and artistic process.

WALL OF CELEBRATION

This is my latest student/community collaboration. The entire mosaic was created by students,
staff, parents and friends of Oberoi International School (in Mumbai, India)
under my guidance. The process took 4 months of dedicated work,
mostly by students in grades 6-12.

TEMA, CENTRE OF THE WORLD

In autumn of 2009, we brought a group of high schoolers from Coronado, CA to Ghana to work together with Ghanaian students on a mosaic mural for the community of Tema. This project was a collaboration between the San Diego Tema Sister Society and ourselves. It was a great success.

MATH IN NATURE

This mosaic was created for the math building at the high school. Designed and created by students, it pays homage to the fact that math is found everywhere you look. Look for: sin waves, logarithms, the golden mean, zero, e, i, pi, infinity, 1, fractals, honeycomb hexagons, and 42 (the answer to life, the universe and everything).

THE SWEET PIECE

Although not our first partnership, this was the first mosaic created on the campus of Coronado High School by and for students. All the animals depicted in this mural are local to Southern California waters.

CONCERT IN THE PARK

And this is where it all began. That first magical workshop, that lead to that first magical collaboration. Thank you to the the City of Coronado, the CHS art department and all the other people who helped to set our mosaic program in motion. This mosaic was made by students, FOR the people of Coronado, who enjoy Sunday evening concerts all throughout the summer months, and have been for over 30 years.
