GLAZED TILES

I have been collaborating with the Coronado Cays for the past several years, slowly recreating and upgrading the glazed tiles that line every different neighborhood in the community. We haven’t even covered a quarter of the tiles that need attention yet, but I have made hundreds of tiles already! I really love this project and it is so fun to drive around in the Cays and look at all the tiles already in place. I employ an old fashioned technique called Cuerda Seca, which involves painting wax and filling the spaces with glaze, then firing the tiles. It is a fun departure from mosaics for me!
